The Kirkpatrick C2C is a 250-mile long coast-to-coast cycling route in South Scotland, connecting Stranraer in the west to Eyemouth on the southeast coast.  The route is named after Kirkpatrick Macmillan, a blacksmith from Dumfriesshire who created the first pedal-drive bicycle 200 years ago! The route goes past The Murray Arms and cyclists can explore our region and admire the beautiful landscapes, coastlines and beaches.

Coastal Cycling: Enjoy breathtaking views while cycling along the stunning Solway Firth coast. The coastline offers flat, family-friendly rides with opportunities to spot wildlife and visit picturesque villages.

Kirroughtree is the perfect place to explore the area and see some nature. What was once a a busy centre for lead mining has transformed into a beautiful forest for visitors to explore on bike!

Quiet Country Roads: For a leisurely ride through the peaceful countryside, take advantage of the region’s quiet country roads. You’ll encounter rolling hills, farmland, and picturesque landscapes at your own pace.

Bike Hire and Guided Tours: If you don’t have your own bike, or if you’d like to explore with the guidance of a local expert, we recommend popping over to see the team at Wheels of Fleet. You can hire bikes from them and pick up cycle routes.

For those cyclists looking to take part in competitive cycling, The Gralloch and Raiders Gravel take place right outside The Murray Arms:
The Gralloch is a one day gravel race. A TREK UCI Gravel World Series where riders battle across a challenging, varied course which is almost entirely off road on some of the best gravel trails there are, through the Galloway Forest Park. The Gralloch is returning to Gatehouse of Fleet on the 18th May 2024.

Raiders Gravel is a uniquely Scottish gravel adventure in the heart of the Galloway Forest. Raiders Gravel will be taking place again on 29th August – 1st September 2024.
