About The Murray Arms

Welcome to the murray arms hotel

Open to holiday makers, wedding guests and locals, The Murray Arms in Gatehouse of Fleet is an extension of Laggan, offering a bed and breakfast style accommodation to guests.

about the murray arms

Taken over by Duncan and Vicki McConchie in December 2022, the accommodation in Dumfries and Galloway has undergone an extensive refurbishment with the rooms being transformed into 14 uniquely styled spaces.

The Murray Arms is an iconic building in the bonnie town Gatehouse of Fleet. Rich in history, the building was originally built in 1760 and has famous Scottish historical persons stay. Robert Burns famously drafted his first draft of Scots Wha Hae in The Murray Arms, something the building will never forget.

The interior was designed entirely by Vicki. Similarly to GG’s Yard (the wedding venue at Laggan) The Murray Arm’s interiors portrays a feeling of modern Scottish undertones. With colour pallets that compliment each other, the rooms are assembled with rich textures and earthy hues. Soft yet atmospheric lighting carries through the building to create a warm and welcoming ambience.

The historic association with Robert Burns is remembered in elements of wall art positioned carefully within the building. Stone flags run throughout the bottom floor to create a more traditional look that’s beautiful yet robust. Mirrored areas fabricate an added feeling of space and light in areas which can feel darker.

In October 2023, The Murray Arms and Vicki McConchie were awarded Best Designed Hotel in Scotland by Hotels of the Year Scotland awards, a testament to Vicki’s creative flair and passion.
